At the heart of Coppter’s innovation is our scientists’ discovery of the potent anti-microbial activity of Cu+, which they then applied by building a water purification system based on this activity of the Cu+ cation.
Scientifically, Cu+ is not the stable state of copper (in contrast to Cu0 and Cu2+) but it’s much more active against bacteria fungi and other pathogens.
Coppter’s system and system leverage these properties to recycle Cu2+ into Cu+, maintaining ongoing antimicrobial activity, using very low (and safe to drink) concentrations of copper ions.
